Fall Seven Times, Rise Eight: The Sacred Art of Starting Over (Again)
Jun 21, 2025
There’s something holy about starting over.
Something brave.
Something powerful.
Something that says, “I may be tired, but I’m not done.”
The world doesn’t talk enough about the strength it takes to begin again.
After heartbreak.
After loss.
After disappointment.
After you told yourself you’d never fall back into that situation again… but did.
If you’re here today—reading this, breathing, still trying—then you’re already living proof that God’s not through with you yet.
"How Did I End Up Here Again?”
Sis, I’ve asked myself that question in tear-stained journals, in messy bedrooms, and during silent prayers whispered from the floor.
Starting over again feels embarrassing sometimes.
It can feel like failure.
Like weakness.
Like you're behind everyone else who seems to have it all together.
But here’s the truth:
Starting over doesn’t mean you failed—it means you refused to stay down.
What the Bible Says About Falling
“Though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again.”
— Proverbs 24:16
That verse doesn’t say the perfect never fall.
It says the righteous fall—and rise again.
Seven times. Eight times. However many it takes.
God doesn’t expect perfection.
He wants your persistence.
Your willingness to grow.
Your belief that your healing, your purpose, your joy is still ahead of you—even if you have to climb back up one more time to find it.
5 Reasons Starting Over is a Spiritual Act
-
It’s a declaration that you believe in your future.
-
It breaks the cycle of shame.
-
It proves to your inner critic that she no longer runs the show.
-
It builds spiritual resilience.
-
It keeps you open to what God can still do.
This Time Is Different—Because You Are
You’re not the same woman who started this journey the last time.
You’ve learned.
You’ve cried.
You’ve healed in places that used to be raw.
You’ve grown in ways that are invisible but real.
So even if you feel like you're circling the same mountain—trust that you're rising a little higher each time.
A Prayer for the Woman Starting Over (Again)
God, give me the strength to begin again without shame.
Help me rise from this place without carrying the weight of the past.
Remind me that You still have good plans for me. That it's never too late.
That Your grace has already gone ahead of me.
Amen.
